In the lead-up to Tuam’s Annual Christmas Craft Fair on 5th &12th December 2020 the organizers had a Virtual Christmas Craft Fair on Facebook from 9 – 27 November 2020! I participated in that, hoping to sell some of the larger baskets locally, for local delivery or collection. Click on the ‘Discussion’ tab and scroll down, past the other wonderful local crafters, to November 17th to see my baskets for sale, some are still available.

I then joined another Facebook group : Shop in Ireland where you can find many other creatives and small businesses from all around Ireland. Support Local, Buy Irish ! When the Covid related restrictions eased, started a shopping opportunity, somewhat like Etsy for Irish businesses. This has the advantage that you can show your wares in their public Facebook group, to attract customers. I opened up my new shop there around 5th December, and did very well in the run-up to Christmas. I intend to continue this shop in the New Year, depending on their terms and conditions for 2021. My Etsy shop, which opened in August 2020 got a boost through posting in ShopinIreland and I am happy with the results so far. I will continue this shop in 2021, selling nationally only

Gather restaurant in High Street, Tuam, Co. Galway has closed as a restaurant, but they have extended the shop Abbert Store, taking up all of the ground-floor. A selection of my baskets is for sale there and I hope to add more basketry soon. They also have a great food selection to take home, hot or cold.

A fellow Marketeer from Headford Cottage Market started a Facebook group for local businesses in the Headford area, I will be posting there from time to time, mainly with larger items, which are more suitable for local delivery or collection. It’s named Shop Local Headford Area, link: My first posts there are dated December 3 and 10, just scroll down again.

Tuam Farmers Market is closed and will not re-open in the foreseeable future. DUNMORE COUNTRY MARKET had to close under Level5 restrictions and will not re-open in 2021. Seomra Eile, who hosted the market, have also closed their premises and hope to open in another form in the future.

I have kept busy gardening, knitting, weaving my willow and getting organised online. I am quite happy to be marketing online and not having to spend hours at a rainy or cold market. However, the 3 market days I joined this summer (Tuam Craft Fair and Claremorris Folk Festival) were so much fun, it was great to meet people in person again. I continue to sell online during the winter-period, but hope to be joining some local markets again from March 2022 onward as well.

If you want to order anything that’s not in any of my online shops you can now get in touch at my new email: Any questions, comments, creative ideas: don’t hesitate! Take Care, Mo.

Courses and talks:

Courses planned for 2020 were cancelled for obvious reasons. I experimented with video, in view of doing Zoom classes but was not pleased with the results and my broadband connection is not suitable. At the moment there are some health-issues keeping me from starting up courses this year, but I hope this will be sorted by Springtime 2022. If Covid will become a distant memory and all else goes well I aim to start some Willow weaving courses around April, May 2022. Some students had great faith in me by refusing a refund of their booking-fee, so of course they are the first to be notified when plans become reality!

For other activities the same time-frame applies: talks, projects, demonstrations will be considered from April/May onwards, and I will let you all know on these pages and through my Social Media.

Willow weaving workshops and demonstrations were held  in Dunmore, Headford, Glenamaddy, Ardrahan and Tuam Co. Galway in 2019 and before.  See  page ‘ Courses Gallery’ for photo’s of these courses.
